Q&A with Bethany
Q: What are your areas of specialty in therapy?
I have extensive experience working with eating disorders, complex trauma, spiritual/religious trauma, and mood disorders. These areas are deeply important to me, and I’m passionate about helping clients navigate their healing journey.
Q: What has your experience been like in the field of EMDR?
I’ve been facilitating EMDR training for years, supporting clinicians in developing their skills and confidence in this modality. I have also supervised clinicians at the Denver Counseling Center and led therapy groups for eating disorder recovery and survivors of childhood sexual abuse.
Q: What is your favorite thing about utilizing EMDR in a clinical setting?
I love the structure and beautiful containment that the EMDR process offers. It empowers the collaboration of client and therapist, together creating a safe enough place for the brain to reprocess and heal, with the predictability of a familiar shape that can calm the nervous system and any tense parts of the client’s self.
Q: What do you like most about EMDR consulting?
I enjoy supporting the learning of others and increasing the accessibility of quality EMDR therapy. One of my biggest passions is supporting fellow therapists and caregivers, and I see consultation as a vital space to receive encouragement, empathy, and empowerment.
Q: Are you currently accepting new consultees?
